Poetry Alive!

CWTC_2041Prep - 6

In 2009 The Song Room commissioned CWTC to produces an interactive poetry program for primary students. The show toured to TSR's large base of client schools and was presented as a free event at BMW Edge for over 400 excited students.

Regional Arts Victoria will tour Poetry Alive! as part of their arts2go program in April and May followed by a return season with The Song Room.

POETRY ALIVE!

Linguistic acrobatics and physical madness abound in an energetic program of performance poetry and song from Australia and around the world.

This program is specifically designed to excite primary students about the world of language and the limitless creativity of the imagination. The talented actors of Complete Works Theatre Company are coupled with the percussive brilliance of Circus Oz musical director, Chris Lewis in a performance that directly involves students in the storytelling and offers an array possibilities for the creation of their own poems and stories. From the Lewis Carroll’s Jabberwocky to Banjo Paterson’s Mulga Bill’s Bicycle, from school yard rhymes to the silliness of the Goons, Poetry Alive! brings to life many of our favourite poems in a hilarious hour of rhyme and rhythm not to be missed.

What they said

"Excellent! Students participated in the performance and really enjoyed it. Their laughter was constant." teacher Dandenong West Primary

"The students absolutely loved it! I think they were amazed to see poetry so animated and entertaining." teacher Fitzroy Primary

"as we are an ESL based school, the great range of vocab used was helpful to the students. Gave them more awareness" teacher, Sacred Heart Primary, St Albans
